Once upon a time in a remote corner of time and space…
There was a powerful human civilization that stretched forward for over a thousand years. Their advancements in unlocking and understanding the universe were unrivaled. They pushed the boundaries in exploration of space when they unlocked the secrets to FTL travel. Mapping and exploring new galaxies as the excitement of not being bound to our infinitely small corner of the universe.
As they explored the expanse of their reality, they also discovered what they had solved. Unlocking the Quantum Mystery of travelling via teleportation unlocked the secret of understanding time which taught them how to manipulate timelines in the past.
Their vision allowed them to see their doom. The fact that human existence ends as they saw *something* ending their future. Human existence snuffed out in their unavoidable future; the cause of their annihilation clouded.
They only clearly saw the explosion of their light from the timeline. An apocalypse that they could see slowly moving towards them with their TimeSight.
This was a Quantum Event, something that could out manipulate their manipulation of time/space in the KhanSec. An Apex Predator in the morass of TimeSpace that sealed their doom at a set time across every reality.
They panicked and tried everything to try to avoid their fate. They were focused on trying to create a weapon that could handle their Apocalyptic Apex Predator. The overwhelming urge to “Stay Alive” piercing every illusion of moral/social objections to what they were willing to do.
Sadly, they should have concentrated on Greek Mythology and the general plots of late 20th century Science Fiction Films.

To save themselves, they learned to traverse dimensions.
They meddled in the timelines they saw in the past.
Not their past, so not their timeline was their attitude. They were the intruders in those timelines, unaware that their meddling was observable.
They intruded and brought a moral casualness with how they treated the humans on those timelines. The boundaries they crossed.
Their idea was to create a weapon, a weapon that can intercept the threat they saw coming on a Quantum Level. The threat was a Quantum Event across the sphere of reality. The depths of their testing had no bounds because they didn’t consider the humans on the timelines they tested on to be ‘real’.
As a simple man, I will explain how the weapon works simply.
The weapon ‘attacks’ by asking a timeline a Quantum Version of Dr. Evil saying, “How about No?”.
The weapon attacks the past, splicing in a ‘what if they didn’t evolve?’ Quantum Mystery in a threat’s past that becomes a duplicate timeline they jump to.
Avoiding attacks by Not Being There, mapping and ‘riding’ replacement timelines as they deflect every attack by simply jumping to a timeline where their threat never existed.
They split the weapon into two, a Targeting System and the Quantum Splicer. The thinking was to have a consensus between the two. They ended up creating The Boy Who Could See and The Girl Who Could Move.
